This has been one of my favorite cobbler recipe for years. I made it for the first time on the hearth in a dutch oven. It is simple and you can use any type of fruit. I have used fresh or canned. It will wow your family and friends every time.
Prep Time: 15 minutesPreheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Sift flour, salt and baking prodder together.
Mix with 1 cup of sugar.
Stir milk in slowly to make a batter.
Melt the butter in an 8x8 inch baking pan.
Pour the batter slowly over the melted butter. Do not stir.
Mix the raspberries well with the remaining 1 cup of sugar
Carefully spoon them over the batter.
Bake for one hour.
Can be served warm or cold.
Note: Blueberries, cherries or other fruit may be substituted. I sometimes combine raspberries and blueberries. Apples (add 1 tablespoon cinnamon to the sugar).

Have you ever been berry picking? When I was little I can remember my mom telling us to put on long sleeves and come on. We would get up early when the dew was still on the grass and take off across the meadow. The patches of berries we were picking had not been touched in years. They were so large that you would push and fight your way through the tearing prickling briers into center of the patch and reach up and see the berries hanging above your head. We would pick berries by the five-gallon buckets. One time we had worked all morning and had filled one bucket so we left it on the path and continued. When we returned our pig had ate the entire bucket. My mom was so mad!! We still laugh about that some 40 years later. Joe and I spent our first summer together picking berries on our farm and sharing our memories and making some wonderful new ones. I can tell you there is nothing more beautiful than seeing those sweet red berries in the morning sun and then pulling it off the vine and popping it into your mouth. There is something about food that was raised by sunshine and God.
